House of the week: $1.2 million for flawless views of Lake Ontario

PRICE: $1.2 million
THE PLACE: It may be unassuming from the outside, but this waterfront home is a 5,ooo-square-foot refuge for Torontonians who adore both the city and nature. Almost every one of the open-concept rooms has a panoramic view of Lake Ontario. The majestic master bedroom has a six-piece ensuite bathroom lined with lake-facing floor-to-ceiling windows.
BRAGGING RIGHTS: During the summer months, the 1,000-square-foot rooftop patio is an ideal place to tan. A wooden perimeter fence means complete privacy, and the outside shower makes it easy to cool off. Creative types might enjoy schmoozing with the neighbours, who include a handful of media personalities and artists, such as Roswita Busskamp.
BIG SELLING POINT: Dare we say affordable? At $1.2 million, the asking price means potential buyers do not have to win a lottery to call this modern jewel home.
POSSIBLE DEAL BREAKER: The location—straddling the border between New Toronto and Mimico—is still evolving out of the “next hot ’hood” category.
POSH BY THE NUMBERS:
• 5,000 square feet• 1,000-square-foot rooftop patio• 4 bedrooms• 3 bathrooms• 3-car garage• 2 lakeside walk-outs• 2 fireplaces• 2 storeys• 1 landscaped garden• 1 screened-in barbecue area• 1 fish pond

Cadillac Fairview spends big cash on windows...
Cadillac Fairview Announces $110 Million Investment in Toronto-Dominion Centre's 77 King West
TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 17, 2010) -
The Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited is proud to announce the launch of its 77 King Street West revitalization, to further enhance one of its flagship office and retail properties in Toronto, originally built in 1969.
The 46-storey tower is part of the company's $110 million investment in the Toronto-Dominion (TD) Centre complex, consisting of five iconic black towers in the heart of the financial district, and one of Toronto's most prestigious downtown business addresses.
The first stages of this multi-year revitalization project will enhance the property and tenant comfort while at the same time maintaining the integrity and style of the original building designed by world-renowned architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. The TD Centre was downtown Toronto's first major office development and to this day, remains the largest office complex in Canada, home to many of the country's premier businesses, and foreign multinationals, in addition to being the global head quarters of TD Bank Financial Group.
"I am really excited about this initiative, as it enhances the timeless modern design that is the Toronto Dominion Centre" said Steven Sorensen, Vice President, Property Management for Cadillac Fairview. He adds, "We are looking to make the building even more exciting and inviting for some of Canada's elite to conduct their business."
A major aspect of the project that demonstrates this commitment is the replacement of all 5,676 windows, beginning with the removal of single glass window panes, and replacing them with thermal double panes and a new innovative roller shade system. The new windows and shades will enhance energy efficiency by keeping the building better insulated and will be tinted bronze to ensure consistency with the original architectural design. Given the architectural and historical significance of the property, the revitalization will ensure the careful restoration and replacement of existing finishes and materials to remain true to Mies Van der Rohe's original vision.
This latest investment in TD Centre is consistent with the property's pursuit of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Certification for Existing Buildings, which it expects to achieve early this summer. For more information, please visit us at www.cadillacfairview.com.

Where the Bullock, is Sandra?
SAndra Bullock is reportedly living in her $2.25 M New Orleans mansion purchased last year with soon to be ex-husband Jesse James. The Koch-Mays home was built in the 1860's, and with over 6,000sqft, 5 bedrooms and 5 washrooms I'm wondering if the Big Easy got its name from this beauty...take a look:

On the Pulse: A look at Yonge/ Eglinton

.jpg)
My favourite spots to visit and what to expect...
where's Waldo: on the west side of Yonge towards Avenue, Briar Hill Ave to the north and Chaplin Cres across Oriole Park to the south.
the locals: young and eligibles in the surrounding condos, and young professional parents drawn by the coveted school district who didn't want to leave the 'hood when they became homeowners.
MY PICS:
i just wanna dance... Alley Catz for some R&B with funk, or head to Acrobat Lounge to shake the hips with Salseros!!
i want to pump you up...tennis, soccer , swimming at North Toronto Memorial Community Centre or go for a run a Eglinton Park
i have a sweet tooth...Dufflet Pasteries, delectable..be forewarned!
din-din time...Grazie for a casual dinner with friends or head to Centro for a special more formal occasion.
after work drinks...with such a vibrant selection of Trattorias and such , I'd just hop around Yonge street and try more than one!
real estate: condos start at $250,000, and a 3BR semi-detached fixer-upper starts at about $500,000.

On the Pulse: A look at Little Portugal
My favourite spots to visit and what to expect...
where's Waldo: a triangle that starts at College/Dundas to College/Dovercourt to Dovercourt/King then back to College along the train tracks.
the locals: an eclectic mix of traditional Portuguese immigrants with an abundance of creative types starting families.
my pics:
i just wanna dance...Lula lounge (dinner and live music!!..think Salsa & Samba)
i have a sweet tooth...Brazilian Bakeries along Dundas have the best pasteries
quirky cafe: Naco Gallery Cafe (check out their books in the back room)
after work drinks...Gladstone hotel, Drake are the go-to's but I like more quaint places like the bars on Dovercourt like Reposado.
real estate: two- and three- storey Victorian semis, Edwardian houses that typically need renovations. Today's cheapest house is a semi for $400,000.
